Nouns Preceding And Following Prepositions in Writing

Lots of nouns must be followed by certain prepositions.

1.    FOR

A cheque, a demand, a need, and a reason
I paid her a cheque for 2 billion dollars.

2.    IN

A decrease, a fall, an increase, and a rise
Indonesia has been an increase in well-educated persons.

3.    OF

An advantage, a disadvantage, a cause, a photograph, and a picture
Do you bring a photograph of Marry?

4.    TO

An attitude, an answer, damage, an invitation, a key, a reaction, a reply, and a solution
I have no solution to these problems.



On the other hand, lots of nouns must follow prepositions in certain rules. Here, we present some.

1.    ON

Business, a cruise, a diet, an excursion, an expedition, fire, holiday, the radio, television, a trip, a tour, the telephone, the phone
We are on holiday in Bali.

2.    BY

Accident, cheque, chance, and mistake
I meet my teacher by chance.

3.    FOR

Breakfast, dinner, a drink, lunch, a swim, and a walk
We just go for a walk this morning.
